Douglas B. Lang is a member of Bledsoe, Jacobson, Schmidt, Wright, Lang & Wilkinson, Jacksonville, Florida, a Litigation Law Firm. Mr. Lang concentrates his practice on handling complex commercial and insurance related litigation representing corporate and individual clients throughout Florida.

With more than 20 years of experience in state and federal courts, Mr. Lang has represented U.S. and foreign corporations and individuals in a wide range of matters, including business torts, commercial contract disputes, construction matters, loan and guarantee claims, professional liability, and insurance coverage claims throughout the United States.

He was formerly a partner who headed the litigation practice of Angelo & Banta, P.A., and a senior member of Cozen O'Connor P.C., a national law firm. He was also corporate counsel for a subrogation outsourcing company in Jacksonville, Florida. He is admitted to practice in Florida, Georgia, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Texas and various federal trial and appellate courts.

He is peer rated "AV" by Martindale Hubbell, its highest rating which he has maintained since 1999.

Mr. Lang's litigation experience includes jury and non-jury trials and appellate arguments relating to claims by and against insurance companies, banks, businesses and individual clients. Cases he has tried and/or argued before appellate tribunals include breach of contract claims, loan and guaranty disputes, construction claims, arson, fraud, product liability, professional liability, personal injury and property damage subrogation litigation. He has also successfully litigated professional liability claims on behalf of attorneys and appraisers, securities fraud claims, wrongful termination claims, insurance coverage disputes, class action claims against banks, and antitrust class action litigation. In addition, he is experienced in directing and supervising catastrophic fire, explosion, structural collapse and product liability investigations.

Mr. Lang received his J.D. in 1982 from Seton Hall University Law School. He obtained his A.B., magna cum laude, in 1979 from Princeton University.

    Successfully defended maker of $1 million dollar promissory note resulting in financial institution agreeing to dismiss its claim with prejudice and without any payment by client.

    Successfully defended restaurant franchisee in trade dress infringement and misappropriation of trade secret action which was resolved by de minimus payment by client.

    Successfully represented medical supply company on insurance coverage issues relating to the distribution of counterfeit medical products resulting in insurer defending and indemnifying client for personal injury claims in multiple jurisdictions.

    Successfully represented national bank in multimillion dollar loan fraud scheme resulting in loan recoveries in excess of $5,000,000.00.

    Represented medical supply company on insurance coverage issues relating to the distribution of counterfeit medical products.

    Represented commercial landlord in multimillion dollar eviction proceeding.

    Successfully defended national appraising company and obtained summary judgment against $50 million securities fraud claim by purchaser of resort hotel property.

    Supervising counsel for successful appeal to U.S. Court of Appeals obtaining reversal of $55 million judgment against national bank in class action suit.

    Successfully defended law firm against fraud claims brought by Statutory Liquidator for insurance company.

    Successfully defended Fortune 500 overnight delivery company and obtained summary judgment against wrongful termination claims.

    Successfully objected to and blocked antitrust class action settlement on behalf of intervenor.

    Obtained settlement of $850,000 for apartment building owner and its insurer for fire damage caused by defective heat tape from contractor and product manufacturer.

    Key member of trial team which successfully defended national appraising company against $15 million claim brought by ten saving and loan associations.

    Obtained settlement of $500,000 for insurer from energy company for fire damage to trenching machine due to negligent marking of underground gas line.
